12" Round Brazilian Soapstone Grill

With this round grill, decorative copper band and copper handles, you’ll be cooking like a pro. Ideal for making pizza with a crisp crust, which is absolutely delicious!! The grill can also be used in the oven for baking or grilling, or (paired with a heat diffuser) on the stove top for omelets, pancakes, frittatas, also ideal for grilling meat, fish and vegetables. Also perfect to use on an outdoor grill. Due to its temperature-retaining qualities and slow heat release, the grill will remain hot for an exceptionally long period of time. Plating is not required in that the piece is so attractive that it can be brought directly from the stove top, oven or grill right to the table.

Care and Maintenance of Soapstone

• Do not use directly on open flame. Use a heat diffuser to avoid cracking.
• Wash with soap and water only. Do not use abrasive cleaning products.
• Avoid "thermal shock" - (e.g.: Going directly from refrigerator to high heat. Begin cooking with low heat to avoid cracks or breakage.
• Do not use soapstone containers to store food.
• This soapstone product is handmade. Therefore measurements, weights and color may vary from piece to piece.

Seasoning Instructions for the First Time You Use Your Soapstone Cookware

• Place a small amount of cooking oil in a dish.
• Using a paper towel, spread the oil on all surfaces
• Pre-head oven to 325 degrees and place the tray or grill into the oven for 15 minutes.
• Let it cool and wash with sponge and soapy water. Allow to dry.
• you're ready to use it.

Why use a heat diffuser?

Soapstone performs best when it heats slowly and evenly, allowing the stone to expand uniformly. When heat is diffused, the temperature distributes gradually across the surface of the stone.

With a direct gas flame, the situation is different. Because the base of the grill is relatively large, heat tends to concentrate more quickly at the center, while the outer edges of the stone warm more slowly. This uneven heating creates temperature gradients across the stone.

When soapstone is exposed to intense direct flame combined with the different expansion rates of stone, it can create thermal stress at contact points. Over time, especially with rapid heating, this stress can lead to micro-fractures or cracking.

For this reason, grills perform best when used with diffused or indirect heat sources, such as:

• a heat diffuser plate
• charcoal
• oven heat
• direct grilling environments

These methods allow the temperature to rise more gradually and evenly, keeping the expansion balanced and protecting the stone.
